This report presents the collective recommendations arising from the project “Championing African Integration through Free Movement: The Role of Youth, Gender, and Women’s Advocacy.” It draws particularly from the outcomes of the Women and Gender Advocacy Workshop held in Johannesburg, South Africa, which led to the development of the Johannesburg Report on Women and Gender Advocacy for the AU Free Movement Protocol (AU FMP). Informed by discussions and expert input, the report offers a nuanced exploration of the gendered dimensions of the AU FMP and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), articulating a set of actionable recommendations to address the structural and systemic barriers that women and marginalized groups face in accessing the benefits of regional integration and intra-African mobility.
