The year 2024 marks the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of ECOSOCC – twenty years since the African Union embarked on a transformative journey, in July 2002, to foster a more inclusive partnership with civil society across the continent. This anniversary serves as an opportunity for the African Union, member states, and all segments of society involved in the collaborative efforts to emphasize that the spirit of unity and collective progress belongs to all. Celebrated under the theme "We Are the Builders of Africa," the 20th anniversary of ECOSOCC is also a moment to reflect on the role of the council in enhancing awareness about the diversity and richness of African societies and in strengthening international cooperation.
